TPC Group Hosts its Second Community Day: One Day

HOUSTON (May 9, 2019) -- TPC Group hosted its second Community Day: One Day on April 27. More than 125 volunteers representing the Company joined forces with Cesar E. Chavez High School in Houston’s east end and Family Services of Southeast Texas, in Beaumont, to help enhance the facilities. More than 1,200 volunteer hours were used to plan, prepare and organize for the event, and in One Day, TPC Group employees and family members helped to make a difference.

In Beaumont, employees from across the Company volunteered their time at Family Services of Southeast Texas to enhance the curb appeal and create a more beautiful home for the residents by installing landscape, laying sod and building a playground. Picnic tables were also placed in the area to allow for residents to enjoy outdoor seating in a newly enhanced environment.

“Family Services is so grateful to TPC and all of its employees who volunteered at the Women and Children’s Shelter,” said Bonnie Spotts, Family Services of Southeast Texas Community Relations Director. “They gave us a huge facelift by installing landscaping at the front of the shelter and adding a new playground that will service a wider range of ages. Our women are especially thankful for the picnic tables because they can have ‘group’ therapy outside while watching their kids play.”

Employees in the Houston area, joined by more than 25 students from Chavez High School, created a lasting impact by enhancing the landscape, updating the outdoor learning center and refreshing the sundial located at the School’s SPARK Park.

“We are incredibly humbled and honored by our school’s selection by TPC Group for the Company’s One Day event. Not only was our school beautified by the work of the TPC volunteers, but through their hard work and the sheer number of TPC volunteers, our Chavez students and adult volunteers were able to see that we are a valued member of the larger community of Houston,” said Cesar E. Chavez High School Principal Rene Sanchez. “Though our relationship with TPC is nearly 20 years old, it seems that our collaboration is only getting stronger. We cannot thank TPC enough for this wonderful and beautiful gift.”

Community Day – One Day is a unique opportunity to come together with co-workers, friends, family and community members to make a difference. Through the restoration, rebuilding and renovation of the outdoor areas of these two organization, the One Day event further strengthens the commitment element of the Company’s culture and supports employee team building and collaboration.
