TPC Group Awards Academic Scholarships to 17 High School Graduates

HOUSTON (Wednesday, May 31, 2023) – TPC Group recently announced the recipients of this year’s Mark of Excellence Scholarship Program at a luncheon held on May 22 in Houston. The Company’s Mark of Excellence Scholarship Program recognizes high school seniors planning to attend a four-year or two-year university or college following graduation. Since 2006, TPC Group has awarded more than $1 million in academic scholarships to graduating high school seniors in southeast Texas.

TPC Group’s Mark of Excellence Scholarship is awarded to students graduating from Cesar E. Chavez High School, in Houston’s East End and from Port Neches-Groves High School, in Port Neches, Texas and plan to pursue a degree in engineering, chemistry or environmental science at an accredited four-year college or university, or an Associate of Applied Science Degree in process, instrument, analyzer or electrical technology at an accredited two-year institution.

TPC Group’s Sons and Daughters Program is open to all graduating seniors with a mother or father employed by the Company.

In addition, TPC Group supports the Genesys Works program by providing internship opportunities for high school students in the field of information technology and engineering. These student interns, upon graduation from high school and acceptance into a two or four-year program at an accredited college or university, receive a one-time, $2,500 scholarship. This year, 17 scholarships were awarded.

Cesar E. Chavez High School Recipients:

  • Christina Do is a graduate of Cesar E. Chavez High School. She plans to attend Yale University and pursue a degree in chemical engineering.
  • Tuong Phung is a graduate of Cesar E. Chavez High School. She plans to attend Stanford University and pursue a degree in chemical engineering.

Port Neches-Groves High School Recipients:

  • Jocelyn Dinh is a graduate of Port Neches-Groves High School. She plans to attend Lamar University and pursue a degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Alyssa Harper is a graduate of Port Neches-Groves High School. She plans to attend Lamar University and pursue a degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Alora Salihu is a graduate of Port Neches-Groves High School. She plans to attend Lamar Institute of Technology and pursue a degree in analyzer technology.

Sons and Daughters Scholarships Recipients:

  • Kristopher Casey is a graduate of Tegeler Career Center. He plans to attend San Jacinto College and pursue a degree in nursing.
  • Aidan Cole is a graduate of Klein High School. He plans to attend to the University of Texas at Austin and pursue a degree in accounting.
  • Brandon Flauaus is a graduate of Grand Oaks High School. He plans to attend Colorado School of Mines and pursue a degree in electrical engineering.
  • Catherine Hughes is a graduate of Nederland High School. She plans to attend Blinn College and pursue a degree in pre-nursing.
  • Taylor Jacobsen is a graduate of Clear Falls High School. She plans to attend Texas Christian University and pursue a degree in nursing.
  • Sophie Robins is a graduate of Clear Creek High School. She plans to attend to the University of Texas at Austin and pursue a degree in public relations.
  • Marlee Woodruff is a graduate of Bridge City High School. She plans to attend Lamar Institute of Technology and pursue a certification in firefighting.

Genesys Works Recipients:

  • Fatima Avila is a graduate of Cesar E. Chavez High School. She plans to attend the University of Houston Downtown and pursue a degree in psychology or criminal justice.
  • Carlos Benitez is a graduate of Cesar E. Chavez High School. He plans to attend to the University of Houston or University of North Texas and pursue a degree mechanical engineering or economics.
  • Alondra Castillo is a graduate of Cesar E. Chavez High School. She plans to attend St. Thomas or University of Houston-Downtown and pursue a degree in political science or psychology.
  • Ramel Fobbs is a graduate of Cesar E. Chavez High School. He plans to attend Lamar University or Lonestar and pursue a degree in chemical engineering.
  • Nadia Gonzalez is a graduate of Energy Institute High School. She plans to attend Houston Community College and pursue a degree in Chemical Engineering.
