More than 100 Volunteers Lend a Helping Hand to Two Non-Profit Organizations

HOUSTON (April 25, 2018) -- TPC Group hosted its first Community Day: One Day on April 21. More than 100 volunteers from the Company joined forces with OFA Little League in Houston’s east end and Samaritan Counseling Center of Southeast Texas, in Port Arthur, to help restore, rebuild and renovate the facilities. More than 1000 volunteer hours were used to plan, prepare and organize for the event, and in One Day, TPC Group employees and family members helped to make a difference.

“TPC Group has a long history of developing community partnerships and seeking out opportunities to be more than a corporate neighbor, but an active part of the community. To build on this commitment to community, TPC hosted its first Community Day: One Day,” said Sara Cronin, TPC Group Director Corporate Communication and Government Affairs. “Our Company’s culture of giving back and supporting volunteerism was reflected in the number of employees who came out to work alongside of OFA Little League and Samaritan Counseling Center volunteers.”

The Samaritan Counseling Center of Southeast Texas’ mission is to promote healing and growth of mind, body and spirit of persons, and the reconciliation of couples, families, organizations and congregations by integrating faith traditions and behavioral sciences. Severely damaged by Hurricane Harvey, TPC volunteers came together to landscape, and build and install bookshelves, cabinetry and a children’s therapy sandbox inside the center damaged by Hurricane Harvey.

Oak Meadow, Forest Oaks and Allendale (OFA) Little League has been serving children and families from those communities and surrounding areas in Houston’s east end since 1956 on property owned by TPC Group. TPC has leased the property to OFA since that time, for $1 per year. Each year, OFA has nearly 300 children, between the ages of four and 16 years, who participate in little league activities. OFA is able to offer a safe and fun, social development experience through organized baseball and softball for residents living in the area.
